About Paxar
Many years ago, I was a high-school shop teacher newly arrived in Victoria, BC, with the need to get a teaching job. I ended up substitute teaching at my old high school (Mount Douglas Senior Secondary) in the drafting and Woodwork labs, filling in for someone who had actually taught both my brother and sister the traditional "board drafting."

Turned out that Colin Quail was a very progressive teacher who had taken a look at what was happening in the world of drafting and decided that computers were going to become a big part of the design world. So in 1987, he got himself a top-of-the-line Macintosh Plus lab, and began to teach MiniCAD +2. I subbed in his lab and learned the software while teaching his students how to draft. It was a wonderful experience.
When that teaching job ended, I ended up with a drafting job converting paper documents to MiniCAD files for a School District Facilities Department, and an architectural firm hired me as a technician for a project. Just when those jobs were completed an opening came up with CadCan Distribution Ltd., the company that had been distributing MiniCAD in Canada since 1985, and I was hired to do their sales, training and technical support. Ok, I was hired to do everything!
As the Remington shaver man said, I liked it so much I bought the company. 19 years ago Paxar Technologies was born, and we have been selling MiniCAD (now VectorWorks) in Canada ever since.
Integrity and Karma
Over the last 19 years we have sold and trained MiniCAD and VectorWorks to large and small firms, to Universities, schools and students, from one side of Canada to the other, and up into the arctic as well.
We pride ourselves that the advice we provide to all of our clients is in their best interest. Our long-term approach to building relationships is based on trust and honesty, and has proven itself time and again as the right way to work with people. Paxar Technologies Corp is a strong solid business with many clients who have become friends.
As anyone who has been in business for a while will attest, there comes a day when you are faced with a moral dilemma. Be it the client who pays a bill twice, or the customer who really is relying on your advice and will do whatever you say, or someone trying to purchase something more than they require.
At Paxar we were very quick to realize that we needed to have an impeccable moral compass that always pointed in the right direction, so that the 'awkward' decisions were never difficult to make. We believe that what goes around comes around - and when we make the right decisions all the time, we are keeping ourselves on the brighter side of life. Because we have explored the issues of morality, honesty, and integrity, we can sleep easily at night when we consider the decisions we make and advice we give in our business during the day.
You may get a bit of shoring up when you call in a panic, we might encourage you to take a deep breath or even turn on an egg timer for 15 minutes and go for a walk, you may end up laughing at yourself (or us) before we are through, but you won't be taken advantage of when you contact Paxar for sales or technical support.
